Last week, at this time, we were on the road. Still Selangor area. Alhamdulillah, thank you Allah for the opportunity given to us to travel this far, in our own car. My first experience of driving solo this distance. Of course, with a persistent co-pilot beside me and a humble passenger at the back seat.
I consider it as a semi-last minute preparation. My car was sent for service that Thursday morning, then right after Zuhur prayer, we departed to the central-south. Aaaah I dislike it when other people change my driver seat position. Really awkward. I realized that man usually position their seat backward and downward. I had to readjust in the middle of the journey. There was heavy rain once we reached Gunung Semanggol area. I only drove at 40km/hour, behind a lorry. My eyes were blinded by the heavy rain and the horizontal wind.We stopped for Asar prayer at Sungai Perak. Such a comfy R&R. Rain already subsided.
The day already became dark at 6pm. The rain was still pouring down, not so heavy, but still needed to use the wiper. My brother already called twice, to know about our location. The highway in Selangor area was wide, with three lanes, and buses and big lorries were forbidden from using the right lane. Finally we came to a junction between KL/Kuantan to the right, and KLIA/JB/Shah Alam on the left. I took the left lane. I remembered going to Johor a few months ago with my friends, when I saw the Putra Heights exit on our way to the south. Luckily my decision was right.
Once we reached Damansara area, traffic became bad. Slow and packed. I quickly turned on Waze, to make sure that I drove to the right way. Mak helped me to hold my iPad. The traffic congestion was just for a short while anyway. We proceeded along the highway and finally saw the exit 605 for Putra Heights. Such a relief. Since I already configured the Waze to my brother's house, it was so easy for us to find it. We reached his house nearly 8.30pm. I was proud and thankful that our journey was a safe one.
Being reunited with family members is a gift from Allah. Though it was a short three days break, I was glad that I brought my parents to see the wider view of His earth. Anyway, Penang-Selangor in five hours is not bad at all, will travel again, driving, in the future!
