Syukur, Though It Hurts

Succeeding in the final medicine exams is about being competent and confident. Competency comes after experience and confidence follows knowledge.How are you going to perform a physical examination competently if you haven’t even done it before? How are you going to answer a question confidently when you don’t even have a clue about the topic?

“ Most Muslim women don’t speak that much during exams, thus they lack of marks.But when they speak,their level of knowledge is very good.”

Dr.M once said to me this.He even asked me to become like this one Intern,who is a Muslim woman, and very talkative and proactive. What did I feel? Numb. Well Doctor, that’s what we call personality.Different people have different personality.You can’t generalized all Muslim women to have the same attitude.Instead, WE ALL should learn to live with all those different kinds of people.Of course there are some weird or weak personalities that need to be altered.

The same doctor also said to me this : “ You will be fine in the exams, you have to think it that way, there is no other way.”

Bait-bait dalam ayat kedua surah as-Saff ini begitu menggetarkan jiwa.Cakap tapi tak buat? Jika ayat ini dihayati sepenuhnya, tentulah semua insan yang hidup di muka bumi ini akan berlumba-lumba mencari kesempurnaan diri.Sempurna pada iman, sempurna pada aqidah, sempurna pada akhlak…segala-galanya.Mana mungkin kita menyuruh berbuat sesuatu tanpa kita sendiri tidak mengamalkannya.

Menyuruh manusia berbuat baik, tetapi perangai sendiri pun mengalahkan syaitan.Tapi janganlah menunggu hingga jadi baik seperti malaikat baru nak menyeru pada kebaikan.

Menyuruh manusia lain melakukan ibadat sunat,tetapi diri sendiri ibadat wajib pun tidak sempurna.Tetapi itu bukanlah penghalang kepada seruan kebaikan.

Menyuruh orang lain menjaga pergaulan,tetapi diri sendiri pun bukan main lagi ‘ramahnya’ dengan the opposite gender.Bolehkah orang lain menerima nasihat daripada orang seperti ini?

Menyuruh orang lain menjaga akhlak dan berbudi,tetapi diri sendiri pun begitu mudah melontarkan kata-kata nista, hormatkah orang lain pada peribadi sebegini?

Kadang-kadang bergetar hati apabila melihat orang yang bersungguh-sungguh menyeru tetapi dia sendiri jauh sekali untuk mengamalkannya, berhujah bagai seorang Perdana Menteri tetapi dalam masa yang sama mengutuk di sana sini. Berbangga dengan sedikit amalan kebaikan,tetapi tidak bertahan lama lalu senyap seribu bahasa.

Kadang-kadang bergetar hati jua apabila mengenangkan diri sendiri, sudah terlaksanakah segala yang telah dituturkan oleh lidah ini? Bimbang akan dicemuh oleh manusia lain, lebih bimbang lagi jika diseksa di hadapan Rabb nanti.

If in dilemma, seek His guidance.

Istisyarah is when you discuss with certain people that you trust and those who are known to the area of the matters.Don’t make mistake when selecting the people whom you want to talk to.Best friends are not necessarily the best people to discuss with. A respectable, experienced and trustworthy people might be the right one.

Istikharah is when you pray and ask directly for His guidance.You may get it in a dream, from other people around you, from the tranquility of your heart, and from various other ways, be His Will. Sometimes you get it after a single pray, sometimes you need to do it more than once.The important thing is to clear your soul and mind from any bias or preference and let Him decide for you.

Only once had I obtained the answer from a dream, and that was after the third prayer. The feeling after the dream was indescribable and I really believed it strongly and held to the decision firmly.It turned out to be the best,alhamdulillah.

I wish and I am trying hard to get myself ‘clean’ and be near to Allah…Ya Allah, I am so sinful and ungrateful, please forgive me..You are the most Forgiver and the most Merciful.

When you say you don't have the time,have you counted the time you have wasted on unimportant and unurgent matters? If not, please don't talk about time.You have plenty of them, you just don't value them.
