Ignorant

Situation 1

My second patient for the day, a lady in her fifties. Refused to sit on the chair. Presenting complaint : bawah keluar air, basah- basah... Physical examination : grade 4 haemorrhoids with vaginal prolapse! Plus yellowish foul smelling discharge...advised for admission, she refused, she only wanted medicine. Aunty...there is no medicine to cure this...only surgery can do it. She thanked me but only wanted medicine...no admission please. I gave her cloxacillin, papase, mefenamic acid and neomycin cream. She left, not even a single of her body fluids left in the clinic.

Situation 2

Evening session...my colleague's patient. A staff from screening counter told the nurse about a patient with bad urinary incontinence. Being occupied with patients, we did not realise that the particular patient came into the room. She sat on the waiting cushion chair. Perghh...the room started to smell urine. Next she sat on the other cushion chair near my colleague. Two chairs contaminated. She was sent to the lab for some tests. We removed the two chairs. Later when she came back, my nurse tried to warn the other nurse about her but it was too late. She just place her wet butt on the other waiting chair...She was given medicine and a referral letter to gynaecology and left the room with super wet chair...so that day our cleaner had to clean three wet cushion chairs.

Moral of the story : Always think of other people. It is okay to be unwell, but don't let your sickness burden other people. The first patient knew that if she sits, she will dirty the chair, so she politely refused to sit down. The second patient...not sure what was she thinking...she just ignorantly sit on cushion chairs despite being incontinence...couldn't she think about other people? And she did not even apologize.
