Motorbike For Two

Earlier in the afternoon, a motorbike skidded and threw away its passengers. Guess who were riding the bike? A mother , a daughter, and another daughter. Apparently the mother and her elder girl were fine, only sustained minor bruises, but the youngest one suffered a head injury. She was only about 7 years old. Paediatrics team was called to help in resuscitation. The ED team couldn't get an intravenous access. Surgical team hasn't yet arrived. 

When we arrived in red zone, the MA managed to get a line at the left cubital fossa, so we inserted another one at the right dorsum of hand. Child was conscious but in pain. A CT brain was done and verbally reported as no intracranial bleed, just a haematoma with facial injury. A secondary suturing was planned later and patient admitted to paeds ward for further management.

A motorbike is meant for two people only, regardless the size or age of the people riding it. If those family did that because they could not afford a car, then pity them, but if they did that for the sake of getting hurried...I hope they learn their lesson. I suppose the mother must be in deep guilt. We pray for the family to be strong and the girl to recover from the injury.

Wear your helmet

Wear your seatbelt

Drive with safe distance

Control your speed

Get your vehicle serviced

Recite prayer before travelling

Think of the loved ones
